Happy Turducken Day!
Thanksgiving is finally here! Chris has been waiting for this day ever since we decided to stay home and order a Turducken. Our menu consisted of mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, rolls, stuffing, and Turducken. I have never had duck before but I was quite surprised at how tasty it was.

X-rays, Promotions, and Sausage. Oh, my!
This has been one crazy week for the Hall family. On Tuesday, I came home from lunch to let Dooley out and he had quite the surprise for me. Without getting into all the details, he got sick in his kennel and I spent 2 hours cleaning him up. I felt sorry for the little guy so I called Chris and had him come home to hang out with him because he was running outside frequently to go potty. I had the day off on Wednesday and we played together all day and he seemed fine. On Thursday though, he woke up with a bad cough. I figured he would be fine, but after we got home from work it was still bad. I gave the vet a call and she told me that we needed to take him to the urgent care right away. She was afraid that when he threw up on Tuesday, he got some liquid in his lungs and that could become a very serious problem. I scheduled an appointment with her for the morning and decided to only take him to urgent care if it got worse. He didn't get worse but woke up a few times during the night in a coughing fit. Chris took him into the vet this morning where they took his temperature (he had a slight fever) and gave him a chest x-ray. Everything looked alright. He just has a cold. They have us giving him Benadryl for the weekend. If that doesn't clear him up they will start antibiotic on Monday.
I received a promotion at work on Monday. I am now the Sales Support Manager. So instead of just dock and housekeeping I am also in charge of security, alterations, customer service, and the store secretary. I already take care of most of these people anyway so it won't be that much of a change. I will just have a title that is considered a "higher position" in the company.
And now on to the sausage... On Saturday we officially kick off our Holiday season at the store. The managers put together a fun program for all the staff which includes food, games, and cool prizes. I had the brilliant idea of making breakfast burritos. So as I type, I am cooking 16 pounds of sausage that will fill 200 burritos in the morning! I will be waking up at 4 am to start the rest of the process. My house will not smell the same for a week!
That's it for now, gotta get back to my sausage!

Doolz
You know I can't forget about Dooley. He joined us on our trip today. He was restless the first 20 minutes but then after he realized he would probably be in the car for a while, he settled down. He hung out in the car while we waited in line. He doesn't mind because he would rather be hanging out in the car then at home in his kennel. He napped on the way home, but he didn't want us to forget he was in the back seat so every few minutes he would let one rip and make us gag. It was disgusting.

Yawning
Hanging out the window.
Ordering at the drive-thru.
Guy Fieri
Chris and I have been fans of Guy Fieri ever since he won "The Next Food Network Star" three years ago. So when Chris received an email that Guy would be doing a book signing at his restaurant in Roseville (a suburb of Sacramento) we knew we had to go.
We got up early, went to the gym (cause we are trying to be good), and was on the road by 8. The book signing wasn't until 11 so when we got into town a little before 10 we knew we had time to stop for breakfast. I bet you can guess where we went, Chick-fil-a!!! After breakfast we drove the 5 minutes to get to his restaurant, Johnny Garlic's, and noticed there was already a line forming. I am so glad we got there when we did. There was probably 40 people in front of us and by the time they opened the doors at 11, about 300 behind us!
Guy was the nicest guy (no pun intended), he seemed so down to earth. Chris talked to him about all the good food in Atlanta and he told me what an awesome name I had. We both got our books signed and took a couple pictures. It was well worth the drive, I am glad we went.

Happy Halloween!
I had a hard time trying to find a costume for Dooley this year. He has such a weird shaped body it is a struggle finding things that will fit him. I finally had to settle on an orange and black "collar" around his neck. I had Guiseppa, my alterations lady at work, fix it up so it would go around his fat neck. He gave me a hard time trying to get it on him, but then I think he forgot it was even there. Next year I will try and plan ahead of time so he isn't stuck with a lame collar.
Our Graduate
For the past 8 weeks I have been taking Dooley to training classes at Petsmart. He LOVES going to class. I don't know how much he really learned, but he enjoyed being around the other dogs. He also loved the attention he got from the trainer. Friday was his graduation day. In order to graduate he had to hold a sit-stay for 30 seconds. I was a little worried about that but he passed on the first try (unlike some of the other dogs). They held a cute ceremony for the dogs where he received a diploma and got his picture taken wearing his square, black cap.
